Let's do lunch

Bailey had her first real food today. We decided to try sweet potatoes, one because they are a very good choice for a first food, and two because I had some in the house. We are doing yet another thing a little unconventional. We are making our own baby food. Today was my first attempt and it turned out great. I froze the leftovers, which there was a lot, in ice cube trays. I'm looking forward to trying to make new veggies and fruits. Bailey seemed to enjoy the sweet potatoes for the most part. She didn't know what to think of it at first and made some sour faces, but she ended up liking it and opening wide for another bite. I think she's really going to like food. Oh, AND she drank from a sippy cup today for the second time. She has been trying to drink water out of our cups for a while now, so Ken gave her a sippy cup to drink from and she did great. All by herself. What a big girl we have on our hands. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

First bite. hmm...I don't know what to think about this.

Still thinking...

This is messy mom.

I'm stunned by this new food. And the verdict is...

That was fun mom. I like sweet potatoes. Let's do lunch again!

6 months!!! Wow!

Bailey and I had a DIY 6 month photo shoot on Thursday. Ok, so I'm no pro, but they didn't turn out too bad. She loved the tulle and giggled when I was putting her in the tutu. Happy half birthday Bailey!

This little piggy...

Most of you know by now that Bailey loves to be naked. Because of this part of our nightly ritual is to let her have "naked time" for about an hour every night. It's probably one of her favorite times of day. Last night during naked time I walked out of the room for a minute, and came back in and Bailey found something new to put in her mouth. Mmmmm....toes!!! I have been looking forward to this milestone for a while. lol

"Oh! You caught me!"

Am I not supposed to be doing this Mom?

Random thoughts and pictures

As I sit here and type, this is the first time I've been able to relax with a well family in quite a while. Christmas was a whirlwind. We tried to make all the stops this year to see everyone and although it made for a tight schedule, I think we did it. Christmas Eve we hosted a small gathering with my dad's family even though he wasn't in town yet. Then Christmas morning we got up and drove to IN to spend time with my mom's family. Friday we had a great time with friends and Saturday with my dad. When we returned home, we geared up for Ken's family's arrival. We were looking forward to a wild yet relaxing week at home with family, and almost as soon as they all got here, Bailey came down with her first illness. Let's just say it was a wild week, but not so relaxing caring for a sick baby. I felt so sorry for her; she was miserable! I also felt sorry for us and everyone else because I felt like we didn't get to enjoy everyone's visit and several of the family members left ill. Yuck! It was really good to see everyone though. We don't get to see family as often as we would like, so it's always good when everyone gets together. It had been two years since Ken's family had all been together. Anyway, everyone is all better and we were back at church today. It felt good to get out of the house. I hadn't been out except for the grocery store in over a week. We survived Bailey's first illness! I guess we have officially entered the parenting world. Yikes. More adventures to come. Here are just a few random pictures that I thought we would share with you.

Some of the cousins piled on our couch. We're missing five in this picture, six counting Bailey.

Bailey all bundled up getting ready for a walk in the stroller. Mommy was secretly trying to get Bailey to nap. It didn't work. haha

Sporting Daddy's hat. She loves that thing and always grabs it off his head.

Bailey's new toy!

Thanks to her Great Grandma, Bailey got a new exersaucer for Christmas. She LOVES it and it keeps her busy for quite a while, which is good when mommy needs to get a few things done around the house. :) Her favorite thing is the star. She loves to chew and chew and chew! Here are some pictures of Bailey playing in her new toy.

Christmas Sunday

I forgot to post the pictures of Bailey on Christmas Sunday. Sorry guys. She looked so cute in her little dress. She hardly wears dresses so this was a treat.
