2 months old!!!

Wow! Two months has flown by. Our little girl is growing up so fast. She is able to hold her head up so well now and can sit up when propped up in a chair. She's about 12 lbs now and is outgrowing all of her 0-3 month clothes. It seems like this happened overnight. She laughs and smiles so much more now and is so much fun to be around. Here are some pictures that I took of her on her 2 month birthday. Thank you Auntie Laura for the beautiful outfit. She loved it all except for the bonnet. The pictures are self explanatory. haha

Sitting up like a big girl.

Look at that goofy grin. ;)

Not a fan of the bonnet. Oh no another hat!!!

A day at the great grandparents'

I was so glad when my grandma called today and asked for company. She just had her second knee replacement surgery last week and is layed up on the couch bored to death. Bailey was in an excellent mood today so it was a perfect day to go visit. What a great day to get out of the house. It brightened my mood and hopefully brought a little sunshine to grandma too. Here are some pics from today's outing.

Cloth diapers!

Since before Bailey was born I've been researching cloth diapers. Well last week we finally took the plunge and bought 20 beautiful soft cloth diapers from cotton babies, a local baby store specializing in cloth diapers and organic/natural baby products. I know what most of you are thinking...Eeww...cloth...so messy and so much work. Actually cloth diapers have come a long way since the days where you had to use flats and fold them a million times, pin them with a safety pin and pray you don't stick your squirmy baby, and put on a plastic cover. Cloth diapers are so stinkin fun and adorable now. They come in all different colors and prints and are extremely easy to use. Not to mention it will save us about 2000 buckaroos by the time Bailey is potty trained. If we use them with future children, it will just keep racking up the savings. Anyway, I will give a tutorial on them at a later date but here is a picture of Bailey's super cute Bum Genius cloth diaper. More fluffy bottom pictures to come I promise.

Bailey's blog. A cry for help!

This is Bailey...shhhh...Mom and Dad don't know I'm on here. They think I'm sleeping but I had to get on here and see if I could get anyone to rescue me. I am desperate over here! Mommy is driving me crazy with that camera and the silly things she makes me do. Here I'll show you an example. She bought this hat for me that she thinks is soooo cute and I hate it! It's got a pink flower on it that's as big as my head! I'm only 8 weeks mom. Give me a break.

See what I mean? Look at the expression on my face. Does it look like I'm enjoying this?

Oh the torture! Get that camera out of my face and that thing off my head NOW!

Now she's trying to be all sweet to me and pose for the camera like nothing's wrong. Well I'm not falling for the act and neither is anyone else. The truth is out!

So can anyone help me? Like I said I'm desperate! No more hats, goofy pictures, and girly outfits. HEEELLLPPP!

Run Austin run!

Today we went to our nephew Austin's cross country meet. It was a first for Bailey and myself and I really enjoyed it. Austin did great as a freshman and finished second on his school's team. Ken tried to get more action pics of Austin but he ran by so fast and Ken was also trying to track his time. Oh well, it was nice to get out of the house and root Austin on. Bailey refused to be stuck in the carseat the whole time so we busted out the trusty Moby wrap again and she konked out before the race even started. :) Thank the Lord for the Moby. It once again saved our day.

Play time!

Bailey is starting to love her playmat! She can lay there for about a half hour now and stare at the animals, hit them over and over again, and admire her pretty face in the mirror. Before it was five minutes of laying still with a blank stare and then screaming to get up. I tried to get some pics of her laughing and smiling as she hit the animals but she was too quick. She's really growing up. I love seeing her develop and grow each day.
Wow! There's a lot to look at. I've never noticed that elephant and parrot before.

Mmmm....that elephant looks mighty tasty! How do I get him down?

Ok almost there! Just a little bit more...

Yes yes...I do believe I can get him!

Awww man. These arms just aren't long enough. Maybe next time.

Say cheese!

Showing off our baby girl's new talents

Tummy time. Lifting up her head. Go Bailey go!

Tummy time on the Boppy...a little easier but still hard work!

How much longer do I have to do this guys?

Ok I'm done. That's enough exercise for one day. I'm going to be so sore tomorrow morning. How about a back and neck massage?

I just think this picture is adorable!

Such a big girl!

Our little girl is over 10 lbs and is 22 inches long now. She was 6 lb 5 oz at birth ( 5lb 15 oz) when we brought her home, and 19.7 in. She's come a long way. They do sure grow up fast.

God's provisions

It's been a while since I've blogged. Time just gets away from me with a six week old to care for. Right now Bailey is sleeping and my grandma is cleaning my house so I have time to sit and do something fun for myself. The computer is sadly what I seem to gravitate towards. Anyway, enough babbling.

This last weekend was supposed to be a fun family weekend in KY. My dad got married on Thursday and had a reception in the park on Saturday night. It was beautiful but Bailey was cranky as can be. She was hot, battling thrush, and tired since she had been fighting to go to sleep for over 5 hours. We took her home early and had another big day on Sunday. She did great in church, which I am always over-anxious about, and then we headed over to my aunt's house for a labor day/meet Bailey party. She was in a pretty good mood while everyone oooed and awwed over her. Why wouldn't they? She is the most beautiful baby in the world. Then I had to go and ruin the evening.

We had just finished a huge delicious lunch when I developed a terrible stomach ache. I layed down on the couch and began to get a sharp pain in my right side. After about 30 minutes I decided to go lay back in one of the bedrooms. Ken took my temperature and I had a 99.5 temp. After a while my uncle insisted that I go to the hospital to at least get it checked out. I didn't want to out of fear as to what it might be and because we were supposed to be heading home. So I went kicking and screaming to the hospital while mom kept Bailey with my family. After a few tests and a CT scan, the doctor came in and said it was in deed my appendix and they needed to come out and I was scheduled for surgery in 30 minutes. WHAT?! Another surgery!!! I just had surgery 6 weeks ago. I am not ready for another one! I literally said this to the on call doctor as I grabbed his arm. I think I scared him. haha So to make a long story short, I had surgery, got knocked out for the first time, woke up, threw up, talked to my dad and Ken under heavy anesthesia, worried about my baby drinking formula for the first time, only slept 2 hours and got released the next day at 2:30 pm.

So I'm sure you are wondering why I entitled this post God's provisions. Well I'll tell you why. I was all upset about being in KY when this happened, but if we had been in St. Louis, I doubt I would have gone to the hospital and my appendix may have ruptured. It took a lot of prodding from my family to make me go. My mom, dad, and rest of my family would not have been around to care for Bailey and me. I was all worried about Bailey drinking formula for the first time. Would she starve while I was gone? She ate like a champ and was even over 10 lbs on Tuesday at her pediatrician's appointment. My case of appendicitis was a very quick one, and my appendix got bad really fast. We were able to get in to the ER with no wait and you know that never happens. I'm afraid my appendix might have ruptured if we had tried to make it home or even went to a different hospital. Recovery has not been so bad, at least not nearly as bad as the c-section recovery. My church has also been a huge blessing to bring us meals all week! All in all, the Lord is good and watched out for me and my family like he always has. I thank him for seeing me through this time, but pray that I won't be seeing another surgery for a while. At least let me get through the next six weeks! :)
