It's been a while since I've blogged. Time just gets away from me with a six week old to care for. Right now Bailey is sleeping and my grandma is cleaning my house so I have time to sit and do something fun for myself. The computer is sadly what I seem to gravitate towards. Anyway, enough babbling.
This last weekend was supposed to be a fun family weekend in KY. My dad got married on Thursday and had a reception in the park on Saturday night. It was beautiful but Bailey was cranky as can be. She was hot, battling thrush, and tired since she had been fighting to go to sleep for over 5 hours. We took her home early and had another big day on Sunday. She did great in church, which I am always over-anxious about, and then we headed over to my aunt's house for a labor day/meet Bailey party. She was in a pretty good mood while everyone oooed and awwed over her. Why wouldn't they? She is the most beautiful baby in the world. Then I had to go and ruin the evening.
We had just finished a huge delicious lunch when I developed a terrible stomach ache. I layed down on the couch and began to get a sharp pain in my right side. After about 30 minutes I decided to go lay back in one of the bedrooms. Ken took my temperature and I had a 99.5 temp. After a while my uncle insisted that I go to the hospital to at least get it checked out. I didn't want to out of fear as to what it might be and because we were supposed to be heading home. So I went kicking and screaming to the hospital while mom kept Bailey with my family. After a few tests and a CT scan, the doctor came in and said it was in deed my appendix and they needed to come out and I was scheduled for surgery in 30 minutes. WHAT?! Another surgery!!! I just had surgery 6 weeks ago. I am not ready for another one! I literally said this to the on call doctor as I grabbed his arm. I think I scared him. haha So to make a long story short, I had surgery, got knocked out for the first time, woke up, threw up, talked to my dad and Ken under heavy anesthesia, worried about my baby drinking formula for the first time, only slept 2 hours and got released the next day at 2:30 pm.
So I'm sure you are wondering why I entitled this post God's provisions. Well I'll tell you why. I was all upset about being in KY when this happened, but if we had been in St. Louis, I doubt I would have gone to the hospital and my appendix may have ruptured. It took a lot of prodding from my family to make me go. My mom, dad, and rest of my family would not have been around to care for Bailey and me. I was all worried about Bailey drinking formula for the first time. Would she starve while I was gone? She ate like a champ and was even over 10 lbs on Tuesday at her pediatrician's appointment. My case of appendicitis was a very quick one, and my appendix got bad really fast. We were able to get in to the ER with no wait and you know that never happens. I'm afraid my appendix might have ruptured if we had tried to make it home or even went to a different hospital. Recovery has not been so bad, at least not nearly as bad as the c-section recovery. My church has also been a huge blessing to bring us meals all week! All in all, the Lord is good and watched out for me and my family like he always has. I thank him for seeing me through this time, but pray that I won't be seeing another surgery for a while. At least let me get through the next six weeks! :)
